Physical wellness is one of Cordia’s five pillars for a well-balanced lifestyle, and a vital component to aging well. Among the fitness offerings available to Cordia’s members is our strength training circuit, a six-week program designed to increase strength in the arms, legs, abdomen, and chest. Why is this important? Because a strong body can help in preventing falls, which are a major cause of declining health and lost independence for older adults. Studies also show that strength training has been able to slow degeneration in brain areas particularly vulnerable to Alzheimer’s Disease. In addition to strength training, Cordia also offers yoga, a functional fitness class, Qijong, meditation, and a harness-supported balance class.
