Programming focus: Mindfulness and Meditation

Spiritual Connection is one of Cordia’s five pillars for a well-balanced lifestyle. Because spirituality takes on an individual meaning for each of us, Cordia provides a number of avenues for our members to connect, no matter what their religious tradition. Our Mindfulness and Mediation class is one of them. Taught by local resident Fleda Brown, a student of Buddhism for more than 20 years (and who right now, comes to us through the wonders of technology and Cordia’s in-house television channel), Cordia’s Mindfulness and Mediation program helps our members cultivate an increased sense of well-being and reduce stress and anxiety. Research on mindfulness meditation has revealed that it also has positive affects on the brain’s gray matter and regions of the brain linked with memory and regulation of emotions.
