Cordia at Grand Traverse Commons is proud to announce the newest addition to our dining team: Zippy the bussing robot! Named by our Members and staff, and welcomed with open arms, Zippy is already making a big impact on our community.

Designed to lighten the load for our hardworking dining team, Zippy takes care of the heavy lifting, literally. By running dirty dishes to the kitchen, Zippy frees up our servers to spend more quality time with our members, attending to their needs and ensuring a wonderful Cordia dining experience for all.

Through mapping technology and the use of advanced sensors and multiple cameras, Zippy is able to navigate Cordia’s multiple dining rooms and the Cordia Pub intelligently, safely and with ease. It automatically knows when to deliver dirty dishes to the dishwashing station when its internal weight sensors detect a full load.

Zippy’s Broader Impact

But Zippy is more than just a helping hand. Its presence at Cordia is part of a broader sustainability effort. By embracing technology like Zippy, we’re not only reducing staff steps and potential injuries but also increasing service quality and decreasing wait times, especially on busy evenings.
