Motor City Moments: Our Detroit Adventure Recap

May 28, 2025

Recently, a group of Cordia’s adventurous Members hit the road for a three-day cultural getaway to the vibrant and ever-evolving city of Detroit. From art and architecture to music and baseball, the itinerary was packed with opportunities to connect, explore, and enjoy the very best of what the Motor City has to offer.

DAY ONE: WELCOME TO DETROIT

We rolled into Detroit just in time for lunch and a scenic driving tour of downtown, led by a knowledgeable guide who helped us see the city through fresh eyes. From iconic skyscrapers and public art to glimpses of revitalized neighborhoods, there was so much to take in.

By late afternoon, we checked into our hotel and had a chance to rest up before the evening’s optional adventures. Both options were a great way to kick off the trip.

DAY TWO: ART, ARCHITECTURE & DINNER TOGETHER

After a leisurely breakfast, we gathered for a morning at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The museum’s renowned collection—spanning everything from European masterpieces to vibrant contemporary pieces—sparked plenty of conversation and admiration. Lunch gave us another chance to sample local flavors, followed by a truly special visit to the newly renovated Michigan Central Train Station. Once a symbol of Detroit’s decline, this grand structure is being reimagined as a hub for innovation and community—a powerful reflection of the city’s resilience and growth.

We ended the day with a group dinner, sharing stories and laughs around the table before heading back for a nightcap at the hotel’s rooftop bar.

DAY THREE: A MUSICAL FINALE

Our final morning brought us to Orchestra Hall for a performance by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The Ravel piano concerto was stunning, and the talent and energy of the musicians left many of us in awe. Detroit Symphony Orchestra gets ready to perform at Orchestra Hall, Detroit, Michigan

After one last lunch stop at the Edsel Ford House, we began our journey home—tired but happy, and filled with memories of a trip well spent.

LOOKING BACK

From meaningful conversations to new discoveries, this Detroit trip reminded us that adventure has no age limit. Whether it was the brushstrokes of a favorite painting, the hum of the orchestra, or simply sharing meals and laughter with friends, every moment was a gift.

We’re already dreaming up our next destination!
